House Rep. Dennis Riddell (R-Snow Camp) lauded the Alamance County clerk for her hard work amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Riddell shared Alamance County Clerk Meredith Edwards' Facebook post regarding changes made to the court.

"Glad we have such an excellent Clerk of Court to keep things on track amidst the craziness," Riddell wrote on Facebook.

As of April 6, Edwards reduced the clerk's office's hours of operation for walk-in and cashier matters. She noted that most cases have been continued until June 1. The Grand Jury is scheduled to convene Monday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 28, according to Edwards' post.

Edwards also shared that all civil superior court cases were continued and that all criminal superior court and criminal district court cases that do not involve a defendant in custody will be continued.

Continuance dates will be posted as quickly as the clerk's office can enter them and new subpoenas will be issued to notify victims and witnesses of new dates.
