Alamance County recently issued the following announcement.
District 7690, Area 3 Joint Zoom Meeting
Russell Guy from the Graham Club brought the meeting to order. Pete Beck led us in prayer. After a couple of folks shared some personal news, Russell introduced our speaker, Randy Perkins, our current District Governor.
Program: Report from DG Randy Perkins
District 7690 Disaster Response to COVID-19
Our district has already disbursed $ 25,000 to United Way of North Carolina, to help fight food insecurity and other needs in our communities. Additionally, our District is providing 2 ways for our Clubs to get disaster relief funding.
$ 25,000 has been dispersed pro rata to all the clubs, to use for COVID-19 disaster relief in their communities. These checks are being mailed out now. The amount of the check will be calculated on $10 per number of Club Members. For example: A Club with 50 members will receive a check for $500. Each Club should then give this money to a credible, non-profit, service provider in their community. (Homeless shelter, food kitchen, grocery provider, medical provider, day care program, etc.).
Our District Disaster Response Committee has applied for a Rotary International Disaster Relief Grant, asking for $ 25,000, to be used for food insecurities in our District. If we receive the grant, we will work with the Clubs to allow them to ap-ply for a matching grant, to be used specifically for food insecurity in their communities. Just like District Grants, the Clubs will need to provide documentation, receipts, etc., of how the money was actually utilized, but the application and process for this specific grant will be much faster and easier. More information will be provided to keep you informed on the availability of the grant funds from Rotary International.
Just think of it – If all these funds are used, our District 7690 will have provided $100,000 to help those in need in, and we will have done so, in a matter of days to a few weeks!
