In recognition of public servants — specifically law enforcement — Sen. Rick Gunn (R-Alamance) thanked the police of North Carolina for their duty in a Facebook post on May 15.

According to his Facebook page, Gunn explained that the police officers of District 24, the state and the nation are constantly sacrificing for the good of the public.

“They stay on the front lines 24/7/365 to protect us all and keep our communities safe," Gunn wrote. "When you see a law enforcement official, please thank them for their service!."

Gunn asked his constituents to join him in thanking the public servants for all that they do to protect and serve the residents of various areas throughout the United States.

“Please join me in wishing a Happy Police Week to all of our dedicated and hard-working law enforcement officials across District 24, the state, and our country,” Gunn wrote.

Police Week took place during the week of May 15.
