FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH: Summer Worship Series - The Twelve

Aa

First Presbyterian Church recently issued the following announcement.

SUMMER WORSHIP SERIES – THE TWELVE

Beginning this Sunday and continuing through August 23, our worship service each week will focus on “The Twelve” – the twelve disciples of Jesus who became twelve apostles of the early church.  When we first encounter these twelve in the gospels they are fishermen and tax collectors.  For three years they followed Jesus and during that time they were bumbling novices at best.  And yet, they suddenly are transformed into empowered leaders who spread the Good News as far east as India, as far west as Spain, possibly as far north as Britain, and as far south as North Africa.  Each week beginning on June 7, we will examine the life and witness of one of the Twelve and consider what the Spirit is saying to us today through their struggles and perseverance, persecutions and contagious joy.
