North Carolina Rep. Jon Hardister (R-Guilford) recently recapped the work that was accomplished at the General Assembly with an overview that he posted on his Facebook page on June 27.
In his Facebook post, Hardister said that legislators passed a $1.6 billion COVID-19 relief package, allocated $500 million in relief funding to departments and programs and approved policies for the controlled reopening of gyms, bars and other venues while allowing Gov. Roy Cooper the option to close them if needed after seeking approval from the Council of State.
The Republican lawmaker also posted that legislators sent a bill to Cooper to allow 4th of July holiday events to proceed, OK'd $460 million in increased Medicaid funding and adopted legislation to increase the financial accountability of the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
"We have completed a busy week of work at the General Assembly," Hardister said in his Facebook post. "Our plan is to adjourn next week and return for additional work in September."
