An attorney with Oertel, Koonts & Oertel said small businesses in Alamance County are resilient, a guest blogger wrote for the Alamance Chamber.

F. Paul Koonts wrote on Sept. 3 that the Alamance Chamber uses community resources to help small business leaders throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Some of those resources included using programs such as Zoom and WebEx to host free webinars on the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) and health insurance benefits, among other things, to get answers for small businesses.

The Alamance Chamber Economic Development Foundation and the Alamance County government also set aside $300,000 to provide small business loans to help minority- and women-owned businesses, the blog post states.

"Sometimes it takes a crisis for us to truly begin to address a need that has always been right in front of us," Koonts wrote.

Koonts said there are countless more examples of how the business community has rallied together to help small business owners in the county. He wrote that the pandemic has forced everyone out of their comfort zones and help needs to continue to provide support to help businesses thrive.
