The United States Golf Association plans to open a second headquarters and other facilities at Pinehurst, a move praised by state Rep. Stephen Ross (R-Alamance).
In a post to his official Facebook page on Sept. 9, Ross said that it was great to have had the opportunity to participate in the negotiations during the last year that led to the move by the USGA. He also noted the historic role Pinehurst has played in the history of golf in the United States.
“I look forward to what the future holds for USGA in North Carolina,” he said in the post.
The move comes with a multi-million dollar incentive package from the state The Pilot reported on Sept. 8.
The move follows in the course of a long relationship between USGA and Pinehurst, which has hosted more championship events for the association than any other course in the country, The Pilot reported.
