VILLAGE OF WALNUT CREEK: Heavy Rain This Week

Rain

Village of Walnut Creek issued the following announcement on Aug. 3.

Rainfall amounts this week for Wayne County are currently predicted to be between 4-7 inches from today through Friday.  Local amounts could be higher with greater rainfall along the coast.  The risk of flash flooding increases starting tomorrow, mostly in low laying, urban, and poor drainage areas.

Currently, the Neuse River gauge in Goldsboro is predicting for the river to remain below any flood stage.  This could change depending on rainfall amounts locally and upriver.

Remember, if you come across a flooded roadway: Turn Around, Don’t Drown.  It only takes a few inches of flood waters to move a vehicle and there could be damage underneath the roadway that you can’t see.  Avoid downed power lines and downed trees as power lines could be tangled within the branches.
