Guilford County Schools issued the following announcement on Sep 10.
Reedy Fork Elementary fourth-grade teacher Rodney Crouse organized a virtual field trip and meeting with Inspiration4 astronaut Chris Sembroski. Crouse will travel to see the Inspiration4 launch on Sept. 15.
On Tuesday, Sept 7, Sembroski participated in a Zoom call with fourth-graders at Reedy Fork Elementary. He shared about the mission and goals for the Inspiration4 flight. It will be the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit.
Students learned about the mission, including who will be commanding the flight: Jared Isaacman, the 38-year-old founder and chief executive officer of Shift4 Payments and an accomplished pilot and adventurer.
On Sept. 15, Inspiration4 will leave Earth from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Complex 39A, the embarkation point for Apollo and Space Shuttle missions, and travel across a low earth orbit on a multi-day journey that will continually eclipse more than 90% of the earth’s population.
