City of High Point Police Department issued the following announcement on Mar. 17.
On Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 1240 pm, Ms. Brittany Jacobs was letting her car warm up outside of the 230 Building in Brentwood Crossing and had to step back inside her apartment. She left her nine-monthold child strapped in, inside her vehicle, while she ran back inside.
In the time it took for her to run inside, her vehicle was stolen from the parking lot directly outside her apartment. Multiple officers responded and the vehicle was quickly located by responding officers, unoccupied by the suspects, with the infant still inside, unharmed.
Just before the vehicle was recovered, officers observed three black male juveniles in the immediate area of the abandoned vehicle. Officers detained the juveniles (one 16 years old and the other two were 14 years old) a few blocks away with the keys to the stolen car still in hand.
The two juveniles were charged with Second Degree Kidnapping and Motor Vehicle Theft. All were transported to Juvenile Detention in Greensboro.
Due to the ages of the suspects, no further information regarding their identity will be released.
