A 94-year-old pedestrian was apparently struck by two cars in Burlington recently. The woman sustained serious injuries but is said to be in stable condition.

Burlington Police were dispatched after a 911 call came in.

"We're on Sharpe Road…and Lakeside Avenue at the four-way stop sign," the 911 caller said, as reported by WGHP this week. "There's a lady who has possibly been hit by a car."

Police responded and found a woman identified as Ethel Murray in need of assistance. Witness accounts said she was hit by two different cars just after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 10.

Witnesses described one car that allegedly struck the victim as a newer-model gray Honda Civic with tinted windows and a loud exhaust system. The other vehicle was described as an older-model black Mitsubishi Lancer with a red spoiler.

Good samaritans, including someone with a nursing background, assisted Murray before paramedics arrived, the news report said.

Neighbor Wendy Morrow commented that Murray rarely gets beyond the gate of her yard without her son being with her.

"Believe me, if I was here and saw her go down the road, I would have gone behind her and asked her where she was going and everything and brought her back home," Morrow said. "But I wasn't here."

Burlington police are actively seeking anyone with information about the incident so that the drivers can be held accountable. To report any information, call the Burlington Police Department at (336) 229-3500.
