City of Burlington issued the following announcement on June 13.
Come out to North Park (817 Sharpe Rd) this Friday from 5:30pm - 7:30pm for our Third Annual Juneteenth Celebration. We've partnered with local organizations for an evening of live music, kids' activities and giveaways from local, Black-owned businesses.
Dinner and desserts will be provided for the first 200 guests. The meal is by Big Pat’s Soul Food Cafe’ (with produce provided by Miles Family Farm and Kindred Seedlings Farm). Desserts are provided by Sincerely Yours Gifts & Treats and bakers from CityGate Dream Center's Community Kitchen (Suga Rush and Carlton's Creative Desserts) Cold treats will be provided by Brain Freeze, Inc.
Music will be provided by Rodney Milton of RMJ Movement with live performances by Balanced ComPosition Performing Arts, Jae Emanuel, LaMoves Afro-Blendz, North Park's Soul Line Dancing group (North Park Family).
The Juneteenth Celebration is sponsored by Glen Raven, Inc., Piedmont Health, Healthy Alamance, Elon University, and African-American Cultural Arts & History Center.
Organizations involved with the celebration include the City of Burlington's Mayco Bigelow Community Center and B-town Special Events, African-American Cultural Arts & History Center, Healthy Alamance, Kindred Seedlings Farm, and Alamance Achieves.
