FOIA Request to Alamance County Election Department Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Burlington Reporter have formally requested access to specific public records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1.

The request specifically seeks access to pre-election test reports for voting machines used in the county's elections. We have asked for these reports to be provided in a PDF format and include specific fields such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status indicating whether it passed or failed the test.

Our role as a media organization involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from Alamance County Election Department regarding this request.
